When
each year comes to a close I (and as I'm sure, most of us) like to look back and reflect on how I've changed;
whether it be growth, a gain of maturity, achieving my goals or creating new
friends and experiences I never thought I would. New Years Resolutions are a
great way to measure the changes made during the year, and for setting
long-term goals. This year I've written my resolutions earlier than normal, and
decided on a definite list of 15 reachable goals to accomplish by the close of
2015.
My
2015 New Years Resolutions are:
- Maintain a
positive attitude.
To form a happier lifestyle. In order to do this I need to lower the
amount of complaints I make and replace them with compliments. Always look on
the bright side of life.
- Get fitter and healthier.
To challenge myself both by raising my fitness levels and gaining a
healthy attitude to life.
- Early to bed, early to rise.
The year has come when I will actually
banish those dark circles! It is increasingly important to be healthy and well
rested during my adolescent years. I only get one go at them after all.
- Buy less, choose well.
This resolution is targeted at those impulse
buys that I adore in the store, but get home only to realise that I rarely use
it. Think: will I still love this in six months to a year's time?
- Become more connected.
This is not only aimed at social media, but
at my lifestyle. I am making it my duty to aim to become friends with everyone:
the neighbours, new students in my classes and really anyone who smiles back at
me.
- Gain at least 5 new friends, and maintain a close connection.
To complete this goal, I must not only be
'mildly friendly and interesting' to those who I talk to. I must be brave,
courageous and outgoing. This may mean joining extra clubs, teams and
out-of-school activities. Be true to yourself: if they don't like you, its not
your problem. Its theirs. This also means for me to be more present online and
texting friends when I don't see them often.
- Prioritise my time.
This means not only prioritising my
activities, but also severely reducing the amount of time I spend doing things
that are not necessities, or benefiting someone in various ways.
- Eat healthier.
To excessively cut back on the amount of sugars and fats I put into my
body. Food is fuel, not a chance to indulge yourself.
- Get organised.
To be ready for everything life throws at
me. This includes having and maintaining a clean bedroom, desk and lifestyle.
Have routines to stick to, this will ensure that I do not forget anything.
- Take better care of my body.
The subject of this resolution varies from
fitness to skincare, sleep deprivation to hair care and even posture.
- Work & study hard in school.
VCE is the most important part of your
schooling so far. Remember, you are lucky enough to be put through proper
schooling and privileged enough to receive a paid education – do not waste it,
you cannot come back.
- Be dedicated in every aspect of life.
Whether it be going for a run or even blogging on ten to two, if you're
going to do it: do it right! There's no point being half-hearted in what you
do. If you give up halfway, you are going to have to start right back at the
start all over again!
- Water your body.
It is not only important, but vital to keep my water levels up.
Drinking large amounts of water helps with weight loss, clarifies the pores for
great skin, keeps me feeling fuller for longer
and has other amazing benefits! Its just eight cups away!
- Seize the moment.
I do not wish to become a member of the middle-aged group of 'what ifs'
or 'could haves'. If I see a great, positive opportunity, this resolution is
ordering me to seize the opportunity. It is better to have a funny or
embarrassing story to tell in ten, fifteen years time than no interesting
stories at all.
- Do more of what makes you happy.
Whatever it is: writing, blogging, photographing, running, talking,
participating, dancing, playing, laughing, singing, doing, feeling or any other
verb or action imaginable. Do it. No regrets.
I wish everyone a happy and safe New Year!
